Sunday 5th July 2009

The Belper Food and Real Ale Festival is to be held in the town centre 10am until 6.00pm. The first Food Festival was held in 2007 and with the addition of a Real Ale Festival on the historic Market Place last year, the event is growing from strength to strength.

There will be over 40 traders attending this year's festival showcasing the very best in local food and drink, goods will range from meats, pickles, real ales, chocolate, organic produce and much more.

With the best possible selection of high quality food, live music, dancing exhibitions from some of Belper's wonderful local performers and activities for the children, the festival has something for everyone.

With the demand for good quality foods on the increase, Belper is well suited to become the centre of food excellence in Derbyshire.

I cannot express how grateful I am to each and every person who braved the rain to come and see the event. It really was overwhelming to look down from the top of King Street to see a sea of umbrellas. A special thanks should be extended to our performers who added a little sunshine on a rainy day.
